Local Snowbirds was built for readers of every age and ability. We want everyone to be able to read, navigate and enjoy this site comfortably.

Our commitment

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, the international standard for accessible websites and the standard used by Ontario’s accessibility law. We review the site regularly and keep improving it.

What we’ve done

  • Large, easy-to-read text with plenty of space between lines.
  • Strong colour contrast between text and backgrounds throughout the site.
  • Big buttons that are easy to tap on a phone or tablet.
  • Keyboard-friendly navigation, with a clear outline showing where you are on the page.
  • Descriptions on our photos for people who use screen readers.
  • Clearly labelled forms, so you always know what to type where.
  • Calmer motion: if your device is set to reduce motion, our site respects that setting.

Tips for easier reading

  • Make text bigger: on a computer, hold the Ctrl key (or Command on a Mac) and press +. Press − to make it smaller again.
  • On a phone or tablet: place two fingers on the screen and spread them apart to zoom in.
  • For more help finding your way around, see How to Use This Site.

Content from other websites

Some parts of our site come from other providers, such as news headlines, the weather and some puzzles. We choose these carefully, but we can’t always control how accessible they are. If one of them causes you trouble, please let us know.

Tell us if something isn’t working

If anything on this site is hard to read or use, we want to hear about it and we’ll do our best to fix it. You can also ask us for any information on this site in a different format.
